The boathouse originally on this site was designed by Fredrick Law Olmsted's partner, Calver Vaux, in 1874, but was destroyed by fire in 1900. The current structure, designed by EB Green, was built in time for the Pan American Exposition in 1901 and has been used as a boathouse and gathering point for ice skating on the lake. Now called Marcy Casino in honor of former Delaware District Councilman William L. Marcy, it is a popular location for weddings and other events.
